Site Champions play a significant role in the success of Equiscript home delivery pharmacy programs across the country. They serve as the primary point of contact between the Equiscript team, providers, and patients. Site Champions are super-organized, super-involved superstars who carry out the tasks necessary to make a successful pharmacy program.
Family Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and was founded in 1969. It was "developed from a coalition of business, political, and medical leaders pulling together to solve community problems" and now has "15 remote clinics spread throughout the McLennan County area."
Angela has been with Family Health Center for nearly thirteen years. Her tenure and knowledge of the organization, staff, and patients made her an excellent candidate for an Equiscript Site Champion.
Equiscript Prescription Services Administrator, Kendall Parker said, "Angela is a critical asset to the Family Health Center's 340B home delivery pharmacy program. She goes above and beyond to make sure each patient receives quality care while transitioning to home delivery." Equiscript Client Success Specialist, Stephanie Bullock, added, "Angela is amazing! She is very communicative and is one of the main reasons Family Health Center's Equiscript program is successful. We are blessed to have her as a Site Champion!"
Angela identified transportation as one of the main barriers to care for Family Health Center patients. "In our community, home delivery is very beneficial to our patients. We have a lot of patients who do not have transportation to our clinics, much less to a pharmacy," she said.
With many health centers navigating unchartered territory because of COVID-19, Angela said, "the home delivery pharmacy has been so helpful. Many of our patients are afraid to leave their homes due to age or illness. The home delivery system provides their medications in the comfort of their own home. It is one less stressor they have to be concerned with."
For current and future Site Champions, Angela recommends to "stay on top of your portal and communicate with your Equipscript partners. The job you do is very important for your patient! Also, if you have any issues with Equipscript or the portal, contact your specialist." "Equipscript is a valuable tool for the Family Health Center. I am so happy that we have them on our side. It has been a blessing to work with them to provide such an essential tool to our patients," she added.
