Site Champions play a significant role in the success of Equiscript home delivery pharmacy programs across the country. They serve as the primary point of contact between the Equiscript team, providers, and patients. Site Champions are super-organized, super-involved superstars who carry out the tasks necessary to make a successful pharmacy program.
YourTown Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978, opening its first clinic in 1980. Now, YourTown Health has eight non-profit Community Health Centers serving several communities.
April Dawson, an Office Administrator and Medical Assistant, has been working at YourTown Health for eleven years. She said, "I love everything about my job. Being an Office Administrator/Medical Assistant is very rewarding."
April identified transportation as one of the main barriers to care for YourTown Health patients. "Transportation is part of the barrier that some of our patients have. Even if a patient has transportation to the office with transportation that is provided by the patient's insurance, this does not include a trip to the pharmacy..." she said. Home delivery of medications can be a great way to help support patients experiencing these types of barriers.
April said she would recommend the Equsicript program to other organizations because "...it is beneficial to a patient's health and well-being." And because of the current pandemic, she said, "Now more than ever home delivery of prescriptions is so valuable..."
