Please join us in celebrating Julie Lucero, 340B Coordinator at Presbyterian Medical Services in Santa Fe, NM. Julie is Equiscript's Site Champion Spotlight for June!
Site Champions play a significant role in the success of Equiscript home delivery pharmacy programs across the country. They serve as the primary point of contact between the Equiscript team, providers, and patients. Site Champions are super-organized, super-involved superstars who carry out the tasks necessary to make a successful pharmacy program.
Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and has achieved Joint Commission accreditation and Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) certification as well as Bronze status from the Health Center Advocacy Network (ACE). PMS provides a variety of services and serves many individuals in New Mexico who live at or below the federal poverty level.
We were able to ask Julie some questions about her role and experience as an Equsicript Site Champion. Take a look at what she had to say!
What do you love about your job?
I love that I am able to help patients get their medication. I know a lot of people would not have access to their medication without programs like 340B.
What do you like about being the Site Champion for your health center’s home delivery pharmacy program?
I like that I am basically on the frontline helping patients not only just get their medications, but if they have any questions, I am able to assist the pharmacist in resolving whatever issues they may have.
How has your experience working with Equiscript been so far?
I have enjoyed working with Equiscript. Warren (Equiscript Account Executive) is very accessible if I have any questions or issues.
What advice do you have for other Site Champs?
I check the portal once in the morning and in the late afternoon. I always want to make sure to contact providers the day the prescriptions go into the portal so the patients can get their medications in a timely manner.
How valuable is the home delivery pharmacy program to your patients?
I believe that home delivery is extremely valuable. Most patients do not receive their medication without a home delivery pharmacy.
What is the main barrier to accessing healthcare that your patients experience?
Most patients have both travel barriers and financial barriers that make it nearly impossible for them to pick up and stay compliant with taking their medications.
Would you recommend our program to other organizations like yours? Why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend this program to other organizations. I know that it really helps expand services to our clinics and patients.
Equiscript Account Executive, Warren Harris, said, "Julie has been a joy to work with. Julie's care for Presbyterian Medical Services and their patients shines in the quality of her work. We are grateful to have Julie as an Equiscript Site Champ and appreciate her contributions to the Equiscript program's success at Presbyterian Medical Services."
Site Champions help to ensure that patients get the best quality service and that they get their medications when they need them - which keeps patients happier, healthier, and more compliant with their healthcare. Thank you, Julie, for being a top-notch Site Champion!
