Site Champions play a significant role in the success of Equiscript home delivery pharmacy programs across the country. They serve as the primary point of contact between the Equiscript team, providers, and patients. Site Champions are super-organized, super-involved superstars who carry out the tasks necessary to make a successful pharmacy program.
Cornerstone Family Healthcare (Cornerstone) is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with over 600 employees, serves more than 50,000 patients, and provides care in seventeen sites throughout the region.
We were able to ask Justin some questions about her role and experience as an Equsicript Site Champion. Take a look at what he had to say!
What do you love about your job?
I love that I play an integral role in helping our patients receive high quality care that may not be offered to them elsewhere. Our core mission at Cornerstone is to provide healthcare to patients regardless of their ability to pay.
What do you like about being the Site Champion for your health center’s home delivery pharmacy program?
I enjoy being able to provide a service that helps improve patient outcomes. It is very rewarding to know that the patients who are enrolled in this program are having their medications made easily accessible to them.
How has your experience working with Equiscript been so far?
I have had an excellent experience working with Equiscript. I have been working with them for 2 years now and have great communication with the team. They are easy to get in touch with and will always make time for you.
What advice do you have for other Site Champs?
I would advise other site champions to dedicate time to work on the portal regularly, this will help you stay on top of your workload and make sure you do not fall behind. Do not hesitate to reach out to Equiscript with any questions or issues you may encounter. They always respond promptly and help resolve any issues that arise. The team’s input is beneficial as they have worked with many other health centers and have seen what methods work best.
How valuable is the home delivery pharmacy program to your patients?
The home delivery pharmacy program is very valuable to our patients. Many patients are unable to consistently receive/take their medications for a variety of reasons. The home delivery pharmacy provides a dependable way for our patients to get the medication they need and helps them to be more compliant in taking their medications as well.
What is the main barrier to accessing healthcare that your patients experience?
One of the main barriers our patients face when accessing healthcare is transportation. Many patients may be unable to make it to their appointments or pick up their medications due to a lack of reliable transportation. The use of home delivery pharmacies will aid patients who are facing this barrier.
Would you recommend our program to other organizations like yours? Why?
Yes, I would recommend the program as it has proven to be beneficial to our patients’ health and wellbeing. The program is easy to learn and navigate especially with the assistance that is offered by Equiscript.
